Over the next three weeks we're getting the Backerkit ready and finalizing all the add-ons and rewards as the digital product reaches completion. When writing Bandits of Siege Tower I thought it would be nice to create 3 random encounters that the players could stumble across. The encounters included combat, social interaction, and exploration. You can add all 3 encounters to your adventure and easily expand Bandits of Siege Tower into two 3 hour sessions. You could also take those random encounters and drop them into any of your campaigns. During playtesting, Mike Collins, the DM decided to run all three and managed to tie two of them in together, turning those random encounters into a side quest.
Azkarr's Prison will now be getting a random encounters page that you can use to add more flavor to that adventure or drop into any of your adventures. I will be working on these over the next week.

Over the weekend we did some playtesting of Bandits of Siege Tower. I usually like to 3d print and paint all the miniatures for my games but it has been a crazy month so I supplied paper miniatures for the GM to use. (Picture at the bottom.) Some poor decisions made by the players, like splitting the party, and a solo barbarian jumping down a ladder without checking to see what is below resulting in a 40 foot drop into the BBEG's lair resulted in a TPK. It was some good roleplaying and we all laughed for a long time, and will probably laugh about it many more times in the future.
Feedback on the adventure was great. Our old school GM, Mike Collins said it was a well written adventure and he had a blast running it. He ran all of the random encounters included in the adventure, tying a couple of them together, embellishing on backstories of the NPCs, and really made the adventure his own. The players had even more fun playing it and did not mind the TPK. I did adjust some stat blocks and will do some more playtesting to make sure it is not too easy or deadly.

Aetherial Ward Lantern: This lantern is specially crafted to keep Azkarr in a weakened state when it is placed within 100 feet of him. It can dispel any magical effects within a 10 ft radius of the lantern for 1 minute. The lantern must be held in the users hand to dispel magic. It must be attuned to. It can be activated once per day, it is recharged on a long rest.
The lantern creates a soft reddish light that magically illuminates a 30-foot radius and dim light for an additional 30 feet. The lantern is always on and the light cannot be extinguished unless the lantern is destroyed.
